Error “Invalid mnemonic”

This error usually means that one or more words in your mnemonic phrase are not part of the BIP39 wordlist. Please check the on-screen prompt and see if there are any spelling mistakes, extra characters, similar words copied incorrectly, or words with the first letter mistakenly capitalized. After confirming everything is correct, enter the correct mnemonic phrase again.

Error “Incorrect length of Mnemonic Phrase”

This happens because the number of words you entered is incorrect. A mnemonic phrase usually consists of 12 words. Please check if any word is missing, repeated, or entered by mistake, then enter the words again in the correct order.

Error “Incorrect mnemonic checksum”

A BIP39 mnemonic phrase is not a random combination of words. It contains checksum information. Even if every word is from the BIP39 wordlist, the checksum verification will fail if the word combination, order, or number of words does not follow the generation rules.

If all words can be recognized but you still see the error “incorrect mnemonic checksum”, it is usually caused by one of the following reasons:

• Similar words were copied incorrectly.
• The word order is incorrect.
• A word is missing, repeated, or entered by mistake.

We recommend checking your original backup and checking the spelling, number, and order of each word carefully, so you can restore the correct mnemonic phrase with the correct BIP39 words and the correct word order.

In addition, if you have backed up the private key corresponding to an address, you can also recover that wallet address by importing the private key. Please note that a private key only corresponds to one wallet address and cannot recover multi-chain / network accounts under the same wallet.

Note: Please keep your backup mnemonic phrase safe. The correct way to back it up is using physical media, such as writing it down by hand on a piece of paper or using an imKey HeirBOX Mnemonic Storage. Because physical media cannot connect to the internet or transmit data electronically.

Security reminder: When checking your mnemonic phrase, do not enter it on any third-party website or online verification tool, or send it to anyone. imToken officials will never ask for your mnemonic phrase, private key, or Keystore.
